History
There is no actual answer or
evidence of where or how arranged marriage started. It was very common in the
biblical time. It existed mainly in the Middle East, between royal families and
people in the high social class. The basic rules of arranged marriages have not
changed as much. The reason why arranged marriages exist is to maintain the
wealth and status of the two families. This is especially common in the royal
families. Today Islamic arranged marriages are practiced in Asia, the Middle
East, Africa and some parts in Europe. The match could be set up by your
parents or a trusted third party. Before the agreement between the two families
they always consider the religion, wealth, reputation, status, educational
background and sometimes the physical appearance. From the past until now,
brides are used as currency to help form deals.
